about

Future Bounce aren’t letting up off the gas this year. Consistently coming through with knockout releases from the likes of Scratcha DVA x DemiMa, SUCHI and Poison Zcora, Jamz Supernova’s Club Series is ready to go again with a 2-track heater from Dutchie.

Since her debut release on Hold Tight Records in 2017, Bristol-based Dutchie has been working hard behind the scenes on a variety of Neo-Soul vocal projects as well as bass driven, club ready productions. She has already received support from BBC Radio 1, Worldwide FM, SWU FM and HÖR Berlin as well as being featured as UKF’s ‘One to Watch for 2021’, and alongside her frequent DJ gigs has done guest mixes for stations such as Rinse FM and Subtle Radio. Dutchie’s ability to weave fluidly between a vast number of genres such as upbeat dub and UK funky to darker dubstep and experimental bass music has taken her from strength to strength in her production style, with ‘Yeah / Look Down’ being an amalgamation of this!

The tracks vary in mood: ‘Yeah’ is full of introspective heads down moments and percussive chops whilst ‘Look Down’ is a breaks based showstopper with a bassline that hits you straight in the chest.

Words from Dutchie:

This record was so much fun to make! After working for a while on a very melancholic and personal neo-soul project, I wanted to take a step back and make some high energy tracks strictly for the dancefloor. I made the first draft of ‘Look Down’ when I was in a feverish state, inspired by a Baltimore Club remix of Topper Top that had been popping off in my DJ sets, and had just bought a TB303 clone so naturally acid basslines made their way into the track! For ‘Yeah’ I wanted to create more of a percussive, bouncy, UK funky vibe (still with acidic melody lines, whoops!), but both tracks really centre around the vocals. I’ve always enjoyed sampling and chopping up vocal samples and singing on my other projects, but this was the first time I have recorded my own vocals for use strictly as sample material. Though I felt a bit crazy sat in the studio shouting ‘yeah’ and ‘hey’ down a mic many times, it was really fun to make my own vocal material to manipulate and chop up!
